This 3-day LEEA Accredited Crane / Lifting Supervisor Training Course is a comprehensive training program that qualifies individuals to manage, and supervise lifting operations in accordance with international standards and regulations.

The course is 3 days. 2 is training, and 1 day assessment.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no prerequisites for this training course.
It is strongly recommended that learners have experience of lifting operations (Lifting and Slinging), as well as time served in a rigging and lifting role.

What does the course cover?
The agenda for the LEEA accredited Appointed Person course includes:
- Legislation, regulations and standards governing the use of lifting equipment
- Roles and responsibilities of personnel involved in the lifting operation;
- Different types of lifts
- Different types of cranes;
- Principles of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems as they are relevant to the safe operation of cranes;
- Pre-operational checks, reporting and operator level maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer’s instruction;
- Knowledge and selection of lifting accessories
- Crane communications, such as hand signals and radios
- Site surveys and identification of hazards;
- Risk assessments and method statements;
- Lift Calculations and rigging
- Load charts and the selection of cranes for different duties;
- Weather forecasts, measurement of wind speed and determining limiting wind speeds for erection of the crane and lifting operations;
- Down-rating of lifting capacity for multiple lifting or lifting loads with large sail areas;
- Good operating practices, including operation near other plant equipment, precautions near overhead lines, structures, etc
- Documentation and communication
- Conducting a live lifting operation.
How is the course assessed?
Learners will be given a written examination, which will allow them to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding.
Learners practical performance will be evaluated by direct observation during safe lifting operations.
