This 1-day LEEA Accredited Appointed
Person Assessment is for existing Appointed Persons who wish to re-qualify and renew their LEEA Appointed Person qualification or
convert their existing Appointed
Person Training to a LEEA
Accredited qualification.

The assessment is 1 day.
What are the entry requirements?
You must hold, or have held previously, an Appointed Person qualification.
What does the course cover?
The LEEA-accredited Appointed Person assessment, assesses cnadidates in:
- Legislation, regulations and standards governing the use of lifting equipment
- Roles and responsibilities of personnel involved in the lifting operation;
- Different types of lifts
- Requirements for lifting persons, lifting from height, safe access & egress;
- Different types of cranes; - Crane selection;
- Knowledge and selection of lifting accessories
- Crane communications, such as hand signals and radios
- Site preparation, inc. ground assessments
- Lift planning
- Lift Calculations and rigging
- Documentation and communication
- Conducting a live lifting operation.
How is the course assessed?
The Appointed Person assessment/reassessment is comprised of two parts:
1. Knowledge assessment
The knowledge assessment comprises a written examination of which the pass mark is 80%. Students will be required to reference materials, such as BS7121, LOLER, PUWER and local legislative and regulatory documents.
2. Practical assessment
The practical assessment comprises of a lifting plan exercise scenario. The learner will be provided with a scenario, for which they will need to plan the lift, risk assessment and method statement.
Both assessments will be invigilated.
